Safer and better Baseco school with ATI’s help

June 17, 2019

Listed Asian Terminals Inc. (ATI) along with its port employees have contributed in making its neighboring Corazon Aquino High School in Baseco, Manila a safer and better learning institution by joining the Department of Education’s annual Brigada Eskwela (School Brigade).

Brigada Eskwela draws on the support of community stakeholders to help improve public schools in time for June opening by cleaning, repainting and repairing facilities through volunteer work.

As part of the port company’s dynamic Corporate Sustainability initiatives, ATI’s dockworkers and office-based staff painted the metal staircases of the school with rubberized non-skid coat finish, making them weather resilient and safer for use by students.

Aside from this, ATI also shared its extensive safety culture by donating fire extinguishers to boost the school’s emergency preparedness. The donation complemented DepEd’s efforts of cascading Disaster Risk Reduction Management down to the school level.

ATI’s highly skilled Emergency Response Team also delivered a lecture on fire prevention and trained the headteachers on the proper use and maintenance of the fire extinguishers.

Corazon Aquino High School is home to over 3,000 students.
