Stakeholders run for women empowerment in port industry

November 23, 2019

Stakeholders from the ports industry, clad in distinctive pink singlets, joined an early weekend run on Saturday promoting greater inclusion and gender diversity in the male-dominated ports and logistics industry in the Philippines.

Listed port operator Asian Terminals Inc. (ATI) took the lead in organizing the event held at the historic Luneta Park with the theme Takbo para sa Kababaihan, Kalusugan at Kasaysayan in celebration of the global diversity and inclusion month this November. The event was also anchored on health, wellness and history, which serve as important components of inclusive industry growth.

As a port organization, ATI takes on an active role in promoting gender diversity by encouraging and welcoming more women to join its ranks of port professionals. This forms part of ATI’s Corporate Sustainability agenda, alongside protecting the environment and promoting education among today’s youth.

The weekend run gathered around 500 runners comprised of ATI dockworkers, brokers, shipping line employees, and government workers from the Bureau of Customs and the Philippine Ports Authority.
