The city government of Manila recently recognized Asian Terminals Inc. (ATI) as the Philippine capital’s top taxpayer in ceremonies commemorating Manila’s 450th founding anniversary.

ATI was named the city’s top real property taxpayer and third highest business tax contributor for the year 2020.

During the event, which coincided with the unveiling of Manila’s newly restored cultural centerpiece Metropolitan Theater, Manila mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso lauded ATI along with other top corporations for serving as the local government’s staunch partner in progress through taxes dutifully contributed to the city coffers.

ATI operates the Manila South Harbor, a major job generator in the city and one of Manila’s two international container gateways, which keeps vital economic goods flowing in the Philippine supply-chain, especially amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The recognition we received is an added testament to ATI’s growth and excellence as a smart trade enabler in the Philippines,” ATI executive vice president William Khoury said.

“We are pleased to be our host city’s partner for progress by diligently paying our tax obligations anchored on good corporate governance, which in turn contribute to improving education, healthcare, and other social services for Manila’s over two million residents, especially during these difficult times,” he added.
