ATI Batangas ready for ‘All Souls Day’ passenger influx

October 28, 2019

The Batangas Passenger Port is ready for the expected upsurge of passengers as the country remembers its dearly departed this November, its operator ATI Batangas Inc. (ATIB), a subsidiary of listed Asian Terminals Inc. (ATI), said.

In partnership with the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and other government security and health agencies, ATIB officials noted that measures have been in place as early as last week to ensure order amid the expected passenger exodus in observance of All Saints and All Souls Day on Novembers 1 and 2.

To better manage the seasonal passenger uptick, heavy-duty tents and chairs have been installed outside Batangas Port’s passenger terminal buildings to handle the spillover of travelers waiting for their vessel voyage.

Malasakit (helpdesk)stations have also been mobilized by the Philippine Ports Authority to provide any assistance to the riding public. Emergency response teams and healthcare providers are onsite, through the help of the Philippine National Police, the Bureau of Fire Protection and the Batangas City Health Office, ready for deployment for any exigency.

ATIB also offers free shuttle ride for pregnant women, children and the elderly from the terminal buildings to the vessel ramps and vice versa using its shuttle vans and mini bus.

Meanwhile, passengers are encouraged to make their travel arrangements early so as not to be inconvenienced by the expected travel peak during the long weekend. ATIB also reminds passengers not to bring prohibited items such as sharp objects, flammable materials, alcoholic beverages, raw and processed meats, undocumented animals, among others to expedite passenger inspection and x-ray screening processes.

Last year, Batangas Port handled nearly 150,000 passengers during the All Saints and All Souls Day holiday.
