ATI’s Batangas Passenger Port expansion kicks-off

December 02, 2020

Modern sea travel experience will soon greet users of Southern Luzon’s busiest passenger and roll-on/roll-off port as listed trade enabler Asian Terminals Inc. (ATI) kicked-off the Batangas Port expansion project through a soft groundbreaking recently.

In support of government’s Build-Build-Build flagship program and in line with its investment commitment with the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), ATI is upgrading Batangas Port’s passenger terminal and berthing facilities, transforming it into a distinctive sea transport infrastructure to resemble the fast-craft terminals of Hongkong and Macau.

Once completed, the new passenger terminal will feature modern amenities, complete with food and commercial kiosks, including the electronic ticketing system of PPA, for the convenient and comfortable travel experience for nearly 4,000 passengers at any one time.

In 2019, Batangas Port handled over 4.0 million outbound passengers and over 430,000 domestic vehicles as the primary linkage between mainland Luzon, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) and the Visayas-Mindanao region.

Industry leader NW Steel Industries, the same team behind ATI’s world-class multi-level car storage facility in Batangas Port, is spearheading the project.

The soft groundbreaking ceremony was led by ATI vice president for Batangas and Laguna Rodrigo Sanchez and PPA Batangas port manager Joselito Sinocruz (2nd and 3rd from left, respectively)along with representatives from NW Steel Technologies, PPA Batangas and ATI.
